The name of Yahshua!

And whatsoever ye do in word
or deed, do all in the name of
the Master (Yahashua),
giving thanks to (Yahweh)
the Father by him.

Colossians 3:17

As was with the name Yahweh, when it came to the name of his son dear son Yahashua, Satan was very thorough in his attempt to thwart the will of Yahweh by impeding the proclamation of his name throughout the earth. By obscuring the true name of Yahashua, he has left millions confused as to the true nature and relationship of the Holy Ghost to Yahashua, Yahashua to his father, and as a result, of our relationship to all three.

This has led to divisions, strife, and diverse doctrinal "interpretations" on topics such as whether or not there is a "trinity", what name to be baptised in, or whether we even have to be baptised at all for salvation, among others.

First, as stated in the previous page on the name of Yahweh, the volume of references to "for his name's sake", "do this in the name of ", "to his name", "in my name", etc. in the writings on the New Covenant can draw us to only one conclusion. Yahshua's name is important and we discount or belittle it at our own peril. Here are a few examples for his "names sake":

(Mat 10:22 KJV) And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

(Mat 19:29 KJV) And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

(Luke 21:12 KJV) But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

(John 15:21 KJV) But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

(1 John 2:12 KJV) I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.

(Rev 2:3 KJV) And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
As shown throughout this website, Yahweh uses shadows and other patterns to aid in our understanding of spiritual things. If these patterns are heeded, they will keep us from being deceived by false doctrine, because doctrines of the devil will not fit into the often repeated patterns and will stand out as false.

When translators take it upon themselves to add or delete verbage, or change names, these patterns are often disrupted and made ineffectual to the reader. One quick example is the use of the name Yahshua in the Old Testament giving physical rest as a blatant shadow or pattern of the true Yahshua the Messiah in the New giving the real spiritual rest.

Josh 1:10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, 11 Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it. 12 And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying, 13 Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.

Heb 4:6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: 7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. 8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Since there is no "J" sound in Hebrew, Joshua's name in the KJV was obviously not "Joshua", but should be pronounced like YAH, and translated YAHshua, the same as the Messiah. The confusion is exacerbated in Hebrews, by calling the very same name - not "Yahshua" - but "Jesus"!!!! Leaving readers to assume that it was referring to the Messiah. So we have a false name used for Yahshua, twice, both in KJV (and most others), and these two don't even match between the Old and New Testaments!!! How could any new convert (or old for that matter) take notice of the pattern?

The point of Hebrews is that if "Joshua" had given the people rest, why was David, who lived after "Joshua", prophecying about obtaining a rest? According to Josh 1:13, they already obtained it. The reason is shown in Heb 9-10. "Joshua" was only a physical shadow with a physical rest, patterning the true "Yahshua" giving men a true spiritual rest that remained to be fulfilled. I write this to point out just how much confusion and distortion of patterns the substituting of names can and does cause.

This page is only to discuss Yahshua's name but in passing, other true or "un-translated" names in scripture have meaning and give information that is useful in understanding the purposes of Yahweh. You will notice a number of Scriptural names that end in the sound "Yah" or "El" (the title translated "God"). This is because their translation has to do with some aspect of Yah which is the root of Yahweh. Elijah, Jeremiah, Nehemiah, Hezekiah, Emmanuel, Daniel, Ezekiel, to name a few. Elijah uses both and means "Yah is God". Alleluia is "Praise Yah". Here is the King James Version of Psalms 68:4.

Psalms 68:4 Sing unto God (Elohim), sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by His Name JAH, and rejoice before him.
It is written "JAH", however it is pronounced "YAH". The New King James Bible correctly states his name here and in other passages:
Psalms 68:4 Sing to God (Elohim), sing praises to His Name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds by His Name YAH, and rejoice before Him.
All of this to show that the correct NAME for our God is "YAH" or "Yahweh", not "Jehovah" or titles "The LORD" or "God".

Having this basis, we can now move on to the name of Yahshua, often referred to as "Jesus". When broken down, the name is "YAH" and "SHUA". Yah is the Heavenly Father's name and in Hebrew, the word "Shua" means "Saves." In other words Yahsua's name means "YAH SAVES". When we know this we can understand the prophecy in Matthew 1:21.

Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Yahshua: for he shall save his people from their sins.
In other words, she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name "YAH SAVES": for he shall save his people from their sins. Now we can also get a complete understanding of Yahshua's words in John 5:43.
John 5:43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
And further, we can also truly understand Yahshua's words in John 14:26
John 14:26 But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
So now we know that when Yahshua comes, he comes in Yah's name. The Holy Ghost is sent in Yahshua's name. This makes the Holy Ghost in Yah's name. We understand why "Yah Saves", yet Acts 2:12 is clearly talking about Yahshua:
Acts 2:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of "Yahshua" Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
This brings us to our salvation:
Gal 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
The promise of the inheritance of eternal life and the earth were made only to Yahshua. In order for us to be partakers of his inheritance, we must, somehow, be in Christ! The book of Collosians explains how this is done.
Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. 5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: 7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. 8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: 11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
So, now the important question is "Exactly how do we die and become risen with Christ?" The scriptures tell us all:
Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in his resurrection:(The KJV says "Likeness of" his resurrection, but "Likeness of" is italicised showing that it was added in translation) 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

Col 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
So, our "OLD MAN of SIN" dies and is buried with Christ through faith by water baptism, and if we are "PLANTED" in the "LIKENESS" of his death by being "BURIED" in the water and "RESURRECTED" out of the water through water baptism, we will be in his resurrection or "Risen with Him". Through our death in baptism we "PUT OFF" the old man of sin, and are resurrected where we "PUT ON" the new man made in the image of YAH!!!! We are then "HIDDEN IN YAH WITH CHRIST"!!!
Gal 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Eph 4:20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. 25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
If we are hidden in Christ, then what is our name?
Eph 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named...

James 2:7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

Acts 15:14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. 15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, 16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: 17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
We are hidden in the "BODY OF CHRIST" who is our "HEAD" and we have "THE MIND OF CHRIST". We are "LED" by the Spirit, and we do whatever we do in the "NAME OF YAHSHUA" and we are his body in this earth. When we speak, whoever rejects us, rejects Yahshua, whoever hears us, hears Yahshua, whoever hears, Yahshua hears Yah, whoever hears us, hears Yah. We are in hidden in YAH with Christ.
Matt 10:40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. 41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

1 Pet 4:10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Mat 10:13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

Mark 9:37 Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.

John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. 49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. 50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
When being baptized into Yah, there are some who say that water baptism is not necessary for salvation, because the baptism being spoken of is the baptism in the Holy Ghost. I'm still waiting for someone to show me how the Baptsim in the Holy Ghost is in any way in the "LIKENESS OF HIS DEATH" or being "BURIED" with him in baptsim, or being "Resurrected", while the similarity between death, burial, and resurrection to water baptism is quite obvious. This shows a total lack of understanding of the Divine pattern of which the Blood, Water, Spirit are the first three points to salvation.
1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, (1)Repent, and (2)be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall (3)receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Each of the three have their own purpose:

Blood (repentance - accepting Yahsua's blood sacrifice to get rid of past sins),
2 Pet 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
Water (water baptism - killing and burying "the old man of sin" or your "sin nature"),
Rom 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
And after being cleansed,
Spirit (baptism in the Holy Spirit -receiving gifts of power for the edifying of the church - defining your function within the body)
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

1 Cor 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit... ...7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal...
...11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will
. 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
We can now understand the scripture:
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit:
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are titles not names. The name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit is YAH. Thus Peter can correctly say:
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yahshua Messiah for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Is a baptism in other then Yahshua's name acceptable?
Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Master (Yahashua), giving thanks to (Yahweh) the Father by him.

Acts 19:1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
